Theiconicchair.com Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman

Before my purchase of theIconicChair.com Eames Lounge Chair, I was immediately taken by its form; its concave body stood out to me the most.  The Eameses had planned for their lounge chair to have a worn baseball glove aesthetic, but to me this Eames lounge chair replica appeared almost like a cocoon, when viewed from its front.

The frontal view renders the ottoman to look attached to the chair, giving way to a longer-appearing seat. The ottoman is at the same level as the seat, so you’d never guess that this lounger even has an ottoman, or that there are two detachable pieces.

The lounge chair’s arm rests are entirely made up of sleek leather, which look like those of a high end car seats. Adding to the cocoon look was the upper material, ie the leather being swathed by the back and bottom wooden veneer. The fact that the arm rests stick out challenges the cocoon aesthetic in that the outer units are wooden, while the all-over leather of the arm rests create a flap-like look.

The headrest, although attached to the chair, is not perched onto the body. Since it is attached with two tapered poles, it emits another car-seat-esque look, creating open space. In short, the car seat and cocoon elements create a truly unique aesthetic.

It’s also worth noting the theIconicChair.com lounge chair replica’s delivery: it truly holds up as lounge chair, with the body’s backward tilt and the seat’s upper tilt at a 15° angle. This allows your legs to lean upwards, and when placed atop the ottoman, your legs will lounge at a higher position than the rest of the body. It’s easy to unwind in this position, which cannot be naturally created from resting on a couch or a bed.

The seat and the ottoman’s cushions are completely interchangeable. I did not think this was possible, but they are perfect fits when removed and replaced in each other’s slots. This is due to the ottoman and the seat’s cushions to have the same measurements.

Speaking of deliverability, the chair has a swivel, allowing the sitter to adjust themselves to their liking. Not to mention, it is also rather enjoyable to spin, it takes away the stiffness of most chairs. Immediate impressions aside, the Eames lounge Chair & Ottoman has a robust cushioning system. It seemed rather firm at first, but within weeks of use, the padding had gotten softer.

Everything from the height of the chair, to the cushioning, to the use of Velcro and zippers matched the original Eames lounge chair. I essentially bought the original chair but for thousands of dollars less. This lounge chair replica can augment any room and exceptionally combines comfort and appearance.
